William "Shorty" Hensley

William “Shorty” Hensley, 34, of the Bald Mountain Community, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of Dennia and Grace Wheeler Hensley.  Shorty was a 2004 graduate of Mountain Heritage High School.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are brothers:  Eugene Hensley and wife, Dana, of Deer Park, TX, Maurice Derwin Hensley and wife, Julie, of Spring Hill, FL and Dakota Hensley of the home; a sister:  Angela Smallwood of St. Petersburg, FL; a special aunt and uncle who were very dear to Shorty:  Zackie and Linda Hensley of Burnsville; other aunts and uncles:  Bobby and Hope Hensley, Ed and Elizabeth Allen of Fletcher, and Reba Hensley of Micaville; and numerous other extended family members.  Also surviving is a special teacher and friend:  Susie Fox of Burnsville.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Thursday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Rev. Burl Ledford will officiate.  Burial will be in the Zack Fender Cemetery on Green Leaf Road.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
