Ward Bennett Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Ward Bennett announces his passing on Saturday, May 25th, 2019, at the age of 96. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Richmond and Etta Bennett. He was the husband of Oppy Louise Bennett who died in 2011. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Lanter. Ward was a WW II US Army Veteran.

Surviving are his son: Larry Bennett, and wife Susanne Bennett; sisters: Bula Gosnell, Hettie Dane, Pearl Fox, Esther Miller, and Cora Brazell and brother Beecher Bennett and his wife Maria; a granddaughter: Kaci Bennett and a grandson: Cody Bennett.

A Funeral Service, in memory of Ward, will be held on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 at 2 PM, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home, 501 E. Main St, Burnsville NC. 28714. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot on Coxes Creek, with military honors by Sgt. E L Randolph, Chapter 57, DAV.

Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Ward, to Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Rd. Burnsville NC 28714.
