Sheila Diane (McCurry) Woody

November 23, 1969 ~ August 1, 2022 (age 52)

On the afternoon of August 1st, 2022, Myron and Sheila Woody, Chelsey Woody Miller, and Caleb Woody left this world of trouble and sorrow; and entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior in whom they faithfully served. They were residents of the Green Mountain community and were faithful members of Blue Rock Baptist Church.

Sheila Diane (McCurry) Woody, age 52 of Green Mountain, went home to be with the lord on August 1st, 2022, at her home. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Fox McCurry; aunts: Evaleen Black, Ethal Evans and Ruth Wilson; and uncles: Floyd Fox, Sylvest Fox and Paul Fox.

Sheila was a devoted mother who nurtured her children in the faith and taught them all about Jesus. Not only was she a Godly example for her children, but for everyone that knew her. She served Yancey County Schools for 13 years as a Child Nutrition Assistant at East Yancey Middle School where she was dearly loved by the faculty, staff, and students.

Left to cherish her memory is her father, Travis McCurry; sister: Kathy (Jason) Wheeler; aunts: Annette Bailey, Mattie (Gene) Berry, and Grace Dellinger; uncles: Carl (Ruby) Fox, and Edison (Flossie) Fox; nieces: Sabrina (Dalton) Cooper, Linda (Josh) Hudgins, and Jessica (Michael) Taylor; nephews: Caden Wheeler, and William (Lisa) Woody; and son in law, Justin Miller.

Services for the Woody family will be held on August 6th, 2022 at Blue Rock Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC. Reverend Kenneth Forbes will be officiating. The family will accept friends and loved ones from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 for visitation. Burial will follow the service in the cemetery of Blue Rock Baptist Church.
