Shannon Wall Chrisawn was welcomed into heaven on New Year’s Day due to injuries received in a single car accident. She was the wife of the late Dean Chrisawn. She was born on May 28, 1939 in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah K. Wall and a sister, Sarah Allen. She attended college in Raleigh, where she met her husband, Dean. They married and resided in the Celo area until her death.
Shannon worked as an insurance agent until her retirement. She was an advocate for the Yancey County Public Library and worked over several years to help make the new library a reality. Shannon was a generous person who was always around town lending books and delivering soup. She was loved by many and will be missed.
Shannon is survived by two children; Kelly (Eric) Lavin and Chris (Jane) Chrisawn, two grandchildren; Colin and Spencer. She is also survived by a sister: Susan (Roy) Pender, two nephews and two nieces, extended family, as well as many friends in the Burnsville area.
A private family memorial will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Yancey County Public Library or the Yancey County Humane Society.
Very special thanks to Brandi and Jill. She loved you, too. And to Andrew and John for adopting Patty, and to Debbie for all her help and love.
