Rufus Honeycutt

Rufus Honeycutt, age 90 of Burnsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Yancey House in Burnsville, NC. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Curtis and Gertrude Edwards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy Honeycutt and Kelly Honeycutt; as well as five brothers, and six sisters.

Left to cherish his loving memory is his loving wife, Myrtle Penland Honeycutt; son, Larry (Mona) Honeycutt; grandchildren: Shane, Joshua, Timothy, Daniel, and Caleb Honeycutt; numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, in the Penland – Honeycutt Cemetery in Burnsville, NC. Reverend Andrew Thomas will be officiating.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Yancey House of Burnsville and Medi-Home Hospice of Newland, for the wonderful and loving care they provided.
