Reece Silvers

Reece Silvers, age 89, of Burnsville, passed away at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital on Monday, December 5th, 2022. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Sherdain and Chetty Higgins Silvers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved sisters: Juanita Goldsmith, Earlina Royal, and infant sister, Sherlina Silvers; brother, Glen Silvers; and special grandson-in-law, Scott Johnson. 

Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 69 years, Alene Silvers; son, Alan Silvers and wife, Sherri; daughter, Rose Laws and husband, Jerry; brothers: R.L. Silvers and wife, Lillian and Less Silvers and wife, Norma Sue; sisters: Loucille Edwards, and Mary Ann Sparks and husband, Brown; grandchildren: Amanda Laws Johnson, Jeff Laws and wife, Autumn, Blandon Silvers and wife, Kim, Nick Silvers and wife, Chloe, and Xander Silvers; great-grandchildren: Kasey Johnson, Jenson Laws, Jaymus Laws, Aidan Silvers, A.J. Silvers, Adam Silvers, McKinnley Silvers, Tristian Silvers, and Olivia Silvers; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with the service following at 7 p.m. Doctor Chris Morgan and Reverend Keith Miller will officiate. Burial will be held the following morning on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, at the Higgins Community Cemetery at 11 a.m. Military grave rites will be conducted by the Sgt. E.L. Randolph, Chapter #57 Division of the Disabled American Veterans to honor Reece’s service.  

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Autumn and Lacey with Hospice of the Blue Ridge for the exceptional care that was given.
