Rania Kay Robinson

Rania (Kay) Robinson, a resident of Yancey County passed peacefully at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center on Saturday, December 18th, 2021.

She excelled in education and graduated with special honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her college career at Warren Wilson College. Her love and passion of education and teaching continued throughout her entire life! She taught elementary education in Buncombe and Yancey County for many years prior to transitioning into Instructional Technology Specialist with the Yancey County School System, introducing and teaching students and teachers computer technology until her retirement. After retirement, she continued to work and assist with the school technology program. 

Her devotion to the family was unwavering. Kay was one of the most selfless, giving individuals and we were blessed to have had her as a part of our lives. All who knew her, loved her!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Euranious William Robinson and Catherine Marie Huskins Robinson; brothers, Larry Michael Robinson and Tommy Joe Robinson; brother in law, David Wilson; sister in law, Patricia Smith Robinson and nephew, Jacob Robinson.

She is survived by stepmother, Willa Dean Robinson; sisters: Janice Stone, Deborah Jean Wilson, Renee’ Higgins (Michael); and sister in law, Kathryn Madigan Robinson; aunts and uncles: Georgia Self, Gladys Giles, Alton Robinson, Lola Stanley, Georgia Daigler, Wanda (Bob) Proffitt, Katherine Owens; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, who all knew her as “Aunt Kay”.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 3rd at the Burnsville Town Center from 2 to 4 p.m. Reverend Forest Westall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Newdale Fire and Rescue at PO Box 560, Micaville, NC 28755.
