Nellie Blanche (Solomon) Murphy

Nellie Blanche Murphy, age 93, of Green Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at Christian Care Center of Unicoi County in Erwin, TN. She was the daughter of the late Charles Lofton “Doc” Solomon and Madge Wisecarver Solomon. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Murphy; two sons: Sherman and Benny; daughter, Juanita; brother, Wilson Carlyle Solomon; and two sisters, Lura Dell Byrd and Jesse Bryant.

Blanche was a Christian who loved to read, visit with her friends and neighbors and attend church. She endured many hardships and sorrows in her lifetime, but never wavered in her faith and trust in her Lord. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. But her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, were who always brought her the most joy.

She leaves behind one son, Gary (Martha) Murphy of Green Mountain, NC; daughter, Madge Reneau of Oxford, NC; grandchildren: Russell Murphy of TN, Ryan (Hannah) Murphy of Green Mountain, NC, Michelle (Paul) Williford of Oxford, NC, Georgette (Rick) Hockaday of Butner, NC, Blake (Tonya) McIntosh, Jr. of Havelock, NC; great-grandchildren: Konner, James, and Jenny Murphy, Whitney (Randy) Lunsford, Mariah Williford, Chelsea, Danika, Luke, Charlie, and Ryder McIntosh and Jaxson Wiliams; great-great-grandchildren: Wyatt and Weldon Lunsford, and Victoria Williford.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 8th, 2022 at Locust Grove Baptist Church at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends and loved ones two hours prior to service time. Reverend Donnie Bryant will officiate. Interment will follow the service in the White Oak Flats Cemetery in Green Mountain, NC.
