Maud (Moody) Simmons

Maud Moody Simmons, age 91, of West Union, SC, went Home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 23, 2022 after battling cancer. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Lizzie Ballew Moody. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Morris Simmons; her daughter, Louise Blevins; and son-in-law, Don Blevins; brothers: Doug and Reid Moody; sisters: Lily Howell and Alma Carrol; and two precious infant grandchildren.

Maud had worked at Pacemaker Manufacturing Company, from which she retired. She was a gracious, loving person who took great pleasure in caring for others. Among many things, she loved NASCAR.

Left to cherish her loving memory are her sons: Byrl (Nona), Rodney (Leisa), and Mike(Joline); sisters: Ruby Hall and Georgie Geouge; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren; and a host of special nieces and nephews. Also left to remember her is her best friend, Alvin Rush.

No services are scheduled at this time. A graveside service will be announced and held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Foothills at 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, South Carolina, 29672.
