Matthew Briggs Obituary

Matthew Junior Briggs, age 48 of Unicoi County, passed away at Johnson City Medical Center, on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Matthew was the son of the late Andrew Briggs.

Matthew is survived by his mother Donna Briggs; a loving fiancé, Laura Canter; sons: Dillion Briggs (Amber), Trevor Briggs (Mahala), Noah Canter and Skyler Canter; daughter: Ashtyn Barrier (Phillip); brother, Marvin Briggs (Tara); sister, Tammy Briggs (Bobby); grandchildren: Lexcie Peterson, Hunter Barrier, Renesmee Briggs and Abel Briggs; uncle, Dallas Harding (Dovie); and aunts: Arlene Crawford, Rosalie Bogarden, Rosetta Andrade, Annette Briggs, Hazel Briggs, Patsy Helms, and Darlene Self.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Pete Young Cemetery. Reverend John Hall will be officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home to assist the family and help with funeral expenses.
