Marjorie (Silver) Gibbs

Marjorie Silver Gibbs, age 92, passed away to her heavenly home Saturday, August 7th, 2021, at Trinity View Assisted Living in Arden, NC. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hattie Robinson Silver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward; son, Darryl; and four siblings: Velma Shuford, Marshall Silver, Gilberta Stepp and Dale Silver.

Marjorie was a lifelong member of Browns Creek Baptist Church, where she served as pianist for 25 years, church secretary/treasurer, class teacher and various committees over the years.

She was employed at the beginning of the Celo Health Center in 1946, under the supervision of Dr. E.R. Ohle, and retired in 1984. She later was employed, part-time, by the renowned Madame Lili Kraus, concert pianist, who concertized all over the United States as well as other parts of the world. Marjorie was on the Board of Music in the Mountains for many years.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Nina Johnson and Grace Simmons; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 am at the Carroway Cemetery on Highway 80 South, Burnsville. Reverends Shane Buchanan and Donald Davis will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Four Seasons Hospice at 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or Trinity View Retirement Community at 2533 Hendersonville Road, Arden, NC 28704.
