Marian Paulette Laufer

Marian Paulette “Polly” Laufer, age 79, of Burnsville, NC, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Peak Resources Nursing Home in Charlotte.  Born on September 23, 1944, to the late Paul Henry and Marian Bennett Laufer, Polly was a quiet person who enjoyed solitude.  She was a gifted creator of fabric art, creating many quilts, knitting, crochet, and needle-point projects for family and friends. 

Remembering her with love are her sisters: Sherry Laufer Ingram of Burnsville, Elaine Laufer of Asheville, and Andrea Laufer Partee of Charlotte; brother: Paul Laufer, Jr., and his wife Barbara Pless of Bellingham WA; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Polly graduated from North Miami High School and studied music and drama at Florida State University.  She had a beautiful singing voice and immersed herself in many interests and projects throughout her life: drama, landscaping her home, computers, investments, politics, history.  Recently she has worked to expand the family genealogy work in Ancestry.com left by her mother.

Polly retired from the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta and lived at Cattail Creek Community with her mother for about fifteen years.  She was philosophical about her diagnosis when she received it only six weeks ago and was “well in her soul” when she passed.
