Linda (Peterson) Cox

Linda Peterson Cox, age 72 of Burnsville, entered into Heaven’s rest on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Park and Kate Bailey Peterson. She was also preceded in death by her infant sister, Sue Emaline.

Linda was associated with her family business and enjoyed her family and her loved ones. The light of her life was her grandnephews, Keen and Sage Burnette, and grandniece, Kyla Phillips.

Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Ronnie Cox; sisters, Betty Lou Young and husband Bill, Lavinia Peterson Burnette and husband Kim; brother, Larry Peterson and wife Rhonda, all of Burnsville; nephews: Bobby Joe Young, Chris Peterson, Kyle and Kirk Burnette, Caleb Young, Jaxon Simpson and Dez Peterson; nieces: Kim Simpson, Kaylee Peterson, Katie Burnette and Mandy Young.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 25th at 2 p.m. in the North Bend Freewill Baptist Church, of which she was a member, church clerk and teacher. The family will receive friends and loved ones 30 minutes prior to service time. Reverends Phillip Hughes and Roger Laws will officiate. Pallbearers will be Kyle and Kirk Burnette, Bobby Joe Young, Keith Presnell, Jake Bryant and Dwight Buchanan. Interment will take place in the Horton Hill Cemetery on Green Mountain. The family requests for memorial donations to be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital at 62 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
