Larry Deal

Larry Eugene Deal, age 79 of Shoal Creek, passed away at his home on Friday, November 13th, 2020 surrounded by family. He was a son of the late Verlie and Addie Mae Burns Deal.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, James Deal and Robert Deal and sister, Gail Turnmire.

Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Mildred Jones Deal; brother, Harold Wayne Hildebran and wife Chris; sister, Alice Williams; son, Verlie Deal and wife Sheryl; daughter, Martha Smith and husband Rob; step-sons, Teddy Hensley and wife Lydia, Terry Hensley and wife Michelle and a very special granddaughter, Brionna Hensley. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Larry was born and raised in Burke County, North Carolina where he spent most of his life as fixer in a hosiery mill. He moved to Yancey County in 2007, he loved the mountains and nature and quality time with those he loved, spending his time fishing, riding in his side-by-side, relaxing on the porch with his cat, but most importantly, being with his family.

Services will be held in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 18th at 3 p.m. Larry Greene and Terry Hensley will officiate.

The family wants to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Blue Ridge, especially Mike Collier and Becky Hensley, which is where the family wishes for memorial donations to be made to.
