John Hughes Obituary

John Wesley Hughes, age 81 of Burnsville, passed away Monday, November 15th, 2021 at Grace Hospital in Morganton, NC. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Dewey and Vergie Garland Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary, Martha and Hazel Hughes; and one brother, Junior Hughes.

Surviving is two sisters: Jerlene Laws (Carlie) and Joyce Woody; son, Gary Hughes; daughter, Lisa Hughes; and several grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday, November 18th at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Reverends Christian Swann and Marvin Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hughes Cemetery on Brush Creek in Burnsville.

Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Hughes family.
