John Atwood Bigelow, age 89 of Burnsville, went home to be with our Lord and Savior. John passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023, at his home. He was the son of the late James and Priscilla Bigelow. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his oldest son, Christopher; his brother, James; and sister-in-law, Patty.
John was a carpenter and worked on many houses in the Burnsville area. He built the prayer tower at High Pastures and worked on several churches. His biggest joy in life was to watch his honeybees. He started caring for bees at an early age of 8 years. He was a member of Jack’s Creek Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. He loved to play the piano. He loved to listen, sing, and play Hank William’s music.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 60 years, Annette Bigelow; sons, Matthew (Janet), Scott (Sue), Jeff (Antonella), and Luke (Melissa); daughter, Lisa (Anthony) Robinson; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At this time, the family will have a memorial service at a later date. The burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Killington, VT.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Compassionate Care WNC in Burnsville for the love and care they provided to John.
