J. B. McDowell Obituary

J. B. McDowell, 80, of Bolens Creek, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at Yancey House Assisted Living, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Wallace and Alma Lawing McDowell and the husband of Zena Gortney McDowell, who passed away in 1999. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Ophie Ogle, Katie Gregory and Faye Buchanan. J B's smile could brighten up any room.

Surviving are a son: Jim McDowell and wife Linda of Burnsville; a daughter; Karen Morgan and husband Paul of Fletcher; grandchildren: Bailey and Kinsley Morgan and Jessica West; a sister; Clara Harris and brother; Ralph McDowell and wife Jerri all of Burnsville; very special caregiver; Brooklyn Peterson and all the staff at Yancey House.

No services are planned at this time.
