Ina Dean (Shepherd) Owens

Ina Dean “Deannie” Owens, age 79 of Burnsville, passed away Monday, November 29th, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Shepherd and Maphra Mathis Shepherd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Shepherd; and brother-in-law, James Owens.

She worked as a spinner at Avondale Mills for many years before retiring.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband of almost 60 years, Donald Owens. Additional surviving family includes Doug (Bonnie) Silvers, John David Silvers, DeLois Hall, Phyllis (Lee) DeLorme, Katherine Owens; and several special nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Buchanan and Kathy Gortney.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 4th, 2021 at Bolens Creek Baptist Church in Burnsville at 4 p.m. Niles Howell and Reverend Chris Morgan will officiate. Visitiation will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
