Hettie Higgins Price, age 93 of Burnsville, passed away Monday, March 15th, 2021 at Yancey House. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha Jane Adkins Higgins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Price; brothers: Ned Higgins, Ted Higgins and Robert Junior Higgins; sisters: Minnie Loe Webb and Allie Renfro.
Hettie was a school teacher, having taught 5th and 6th grade at Pensacola Elementary, Bee Log Elementary, Burnsville Elementary and Micaville Elementary. She received her teaching certification at East Tennessee State. Hettie took pride as a teacher, and was loved by all of her students. She enjoyed making banana bread, which she shared with everyone. Hettie was a loving friend to everyone she met and will be missed.
Surviving is her daughter, Tamara Price Wagner of Marion; sister, Betty Fox of Burnsville; nephews: David Webb, Harold Renfro, John Renfro, Randy Fox and Russ Fox; nieces: Phyllis Fail, Linda McNeal, Joan Guthrie, Vanetta Cooper and Debora Moser.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 20th in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The Reverend Ricky Ray will be officiating.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12 until 2 p.m. on Saturday in the Chapel. Burial will follow in the Honeycutt-Price Cemetery.
