Genevieve Evans McIntosh, 91, of the Horton Creek Community passed away Monday, December 2, 2019, at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Glen and Cara Roland Evans, and the wife of Jack McIntosh who died in 2003. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Marie Robinson; brothers: Herman, Lee, Wayman, Bill and Nick Evans; and, son-in-law: Scott Shuford. Genevieve was a former employee of Mohasco and Avondale, and later retired from Flowers by Vance. She was a lifelong member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter: Jackie Shuford; and a son: Glen McIntosh, both of Burnsville; 2 grandchildren: Shelly Stafford (Jared) of Plumtree and Kenny McIntosh (Ashley) of Burnsville; great grandchildren: Hailey, Hannah, Jackson and Londyn; and a sister: Mary Glen Penland of North Port, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 7PM Thursday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Murphy will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11AM Friday in McIntosh Family Cemetery on Horton Creek.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
