G. P. Melton

G. P. Melton, 83, of Burnsville, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Charles George VAMC.  A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late George and Alice King Melton.  He was also preceded in death by 6 sisters.  G. P. was a US Marine Corps Veteran.  He was a Past Master of Burnsville Masonic Lodge #717 A.F&A.M and a retired member of Burnsville Fire Department.  G.P. retired as service manager at Carolina Tire Company in Burnsville.  He attended Biltmore Holiness Temple for numerous years.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years:  Willie Dale Wright Melton; a daughter:  Melissa Davis and husband, Bill, of Burnsville; a son:  Terry Melton and wife, Sandra, of Fairview; 4 grandchildren:   Destini Whitson and husband, Matthew, Sheena Cannady (Will), Mark Davis and Megan Melton; 4 great grandsons:  Braxton and Tobias Whitson and Mason and Miles Cannady; 3 sisters:  Wanda and Ruth Melton and Wiloree Epley, all of Asheville.

Funeral services will be held at 7PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Rev. Aaron Phillips will officiate.  Burial will be at 10AM Wednesday in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at Black Mountain.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
