Frances (Briggs) Boone

Frances Briggs Boone, age 72 of the Newdale Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Briggs, Sr. and Pearl Briggs. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Jerry Dewayne Boone; brothers: Paul (Adaleen) Briggs, Thurman (Shirley) Briggs, and Reed (Clara) Briggs; sister, Clara Lee (Clarence) Chrisawn; and one grandson, Tanner Dewayne Boone.

Frances loved many things but most important to her were her church, family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Bowditch Union Church. She served many roles but the most enjoyable to her was that of Assistant Sunday School teacher for 23 years. 

Left to cherish her loving memory are her sons: Steven (Amy) Boone, Tim Boone, and Alan Boone; brothers: Roscoe (Maude) Briggs, Jr., Charles (Geraline) Briggs, and Claude (Kathy) Briggs; sister, Shirley (Charles) McKinney; grandchildren: Dalton (Selina) Carrington, Jordan and Jada Boone, and Jacey Rae Greene whom she loved as a granddaughter.

Any memorial donations may be made to Bowditch Union Church at 420 Rice Road, Burnsville, NC 28714, where Frances was a faithful member.        

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 15th in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home from 5 to 7 o’clock. Funeral Services will be held the following day on Friday, June 16th at 4 o’clock at Bowditch Union Church in Burnsville, NC. Rev. Ronnie Whitson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bowditch Community Cemetery.
