Evelyn Carol (Ayers) Byrd

Evelyn Carol Byrd, age 81 of Green Mountain, passed away Tuesday, July 27th, 2021 surrounded by her family. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Worley and Velma Robinson Ayers.

She owned and operated Royal Pines Beauty Salon.

Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 64 years, Walter Byrd, of the home; son, Robert Byrd (Ricki) of Venice, FL; brother, Martin Ayers (Midge) of Connelly Springs, NC; sisters: Nancy Ogle of Burnsville and Mary Katherine Hughes of Green Mountain; special niece, Kellie Hughes of Green Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Evelyn was a wonderful wife and mother, and will be greatly missed. We get comfort in knowing she is peacefully at rest with the Lord with no more sickness.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 30th in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Reverend Roger Hilemon will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to MemoryCare at 100 Far Horizon Lane, Asheville, NC 28803.
