Elmer Webb Obituary

Elmer Eugene “Gene” Webb, age 88 of Burnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at his home.  Born in Miami, FL on December 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Charles Douglas Webb and Clementine Bethlem Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Webb.

He was married to Nancy Jayne Davison on September 18, 1952. Gene had a passion for golf and a love for their pet German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers.  He was proud to be a veteran, having served in the Army’s Anti–Aircraft & Guided Missile Branch as a Radar Technician from 1952 – 1955. He graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Gene had a rewarding career as partner and later sole owner of Cosentino, Gam & Webb Consulting Engineering, retiring at the age of 50. He served as Sumter Electric Cooperative Inc. President from 1992 – 1996, as two–term Reserve HOA President and Kendall Presbyterian Church Deacon. Gene and Nancy moved from Eustis, FL to Burnsville, NC in 2000. They loved the beautiful mountain views and the local charm, hospitality and giving spirit of the community. Gene could light up a room with his wit, conversation and smiling face.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Webb, of the home; daughters: Barbara Webb, Cheryl Sivils, Nancy Mauldin and Linda Pursley; sons–in–law: Scott Sivils and Carl Mauldin; grandchildren: Joshua Sivils, Stephanie Sivils, David Sivils, and Jessica Williams; great–grandchildren: Charlotte Eloise Williams and Elijah Gene Williams; and brother, Charles Webb, Jr.
