Edna Lou Mace Phillips, 96, of Canton, went home to be with the Lord, Friday November 22, 2019, at Autumn Care of Waynesville. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Clay and Callie Waycaster Mace. She was the wife of Clell Phillips who died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by a son: Arnie Phillips; 2 brothers: Ray Morris Mace; 3 sisters: Jessie Lewis, Velma Wilson and Grace Reel. Edna was a member of Good News Baptist Church of Candler.
Surviving are a daughter: Christine Collins of Chattanooga, TN; 2 sons: C D Phillips of Rossville, GA and Eddie Phillips of Canton; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a brother: Jack Mace of Burnsville; 2 sisters: Faye Wilson of Morganton and Ann Lewis of Beaufort; and, numerous "children" of all ages whom adopted her and Clell.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon Monday, November 25, 2019, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Pastor Steve Smith will officiate. Burial will be at the Bee Log Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
