Edd England

Edd England, age 89 of the Indian Creek community, passed away Wednesday, September 9th at his home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Herbert and Mamie Higgins England. He was preceded in death by brothers, Perry, Armin, Howard and Clay England.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the South Pacific. Edd greatly enjoyed farming and tending the land, he was also a barber for 52 years.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Deyton England; a daughter, Donna Daniel and husband Mark of Nashville, Tennessee; sons, Dale England and wife Doreen, Philip England and wife Brenda and Joe England and wife Retha, all of Burnsville; sister, Mildred Anders of Mars Hill. He also had nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 11th at Indian Creek Baptist Church, of which he was a devout member. Officiating are Pastors Charlie Foster, Philip Garland and his grandson Jonathan England. Burial will take place at the Higgins Family Cemetery on Paint Gap in Burnsville. Family will receive friends and loved ones an hour before the service at 1 p.m.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the staff of Compassionate Care of WNC and suggests that memorials be made to them at 856 Georges Fork Road in Burnsville.
