Doug Zillweger Obituary

Douglas Charles Zillweger, a resident of Yancey County, passed peacefully at home, on Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was a kind, generous man who loved the Lord. His life was full of service. A veteran of the Army, Doug settled in Phoenix with his family serving his community as a letter-carrier. He spent ten years as a pastor and church-planter in Russia before retiring to Burnsville, NC with his wife of 36 years.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Linda Zillweger; a son, Brad Botbyl of Spruce Pine; daughters: Jamie Glynn of Buladean, Tricia Kuehn of Deerfield, Illinois, and Kate Schaumburg of Mesa, Arizona; brothers: Chuck Zillweger, and Cliff Zillweger of Arizona; sister, Cindy Roose of Arizona; mother-in-law, Barbara DesChenes; and thirteen beloved grandchildren. He was the son of the late Charles Zillweger and Alice Francis Worst.

A memorial service will be held at on Thursday, April 14th, 2022, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior to the service. Reverend Jim Dykes will officiate.
