Dorothy (Murphy) Young

Dorothy Murphy Young, age 82 of the White Oak community, passed away Friday, May 21st, 2021 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Dora Self Murphy. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Keith Murphy; brother, Tommy “Curly” Murphy; sisters: Pauline Locust, Rena Mace and Shirley Loftis.

Surviving is her husband, Robert F. Young; sons: Kent Murphy and wife Marsha, Kirk Murphy; daughter, Jessica Young, all of Burnsville; sister, Cartha Biddix of Statesville, NC; six step-children: Debbie Young, Robbie Young, Darrell Young, Leslie Young, Tracy Young and R.C. Hughes; good friend, Barbara Cable; and two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday, May 23rd at 2 p.m. in the Good Cemetery. Reverends Charles Ray Carroll and Matthew Murphy will officiate.
