Donald Ledford

Donald Ledford, age 87, of Burnsville, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, North Carolina surrounded by his family. A native of Yancey County, he was born at home to the late Arcemus and Lessie Ledford on September 5, 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Alda (Lincoln), Mary Will (Car), Luther (June) and Woodrow; niece, Kathleen Kay-Kathy (Harold); nephew, Leland; brother-in-law, G.W. (George) Byrd; and numerous family and friends.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his sister, Shelby Jean Byrd; a niece, Bereda; and nephew, Michael; and family: Doris, Randy, Jeremiah, Brittany (Matt), Danielle, and Chenoa Rose Anne, all of whom Donald loved dearly and will miss him greatly, as will many others.

He was a good man who loved and enjoyed life, the outdoors, hiking, and the mountains, especially Mt. Mitchell. But most of all, he loved the Lord. We wish to thank those who have shown kindness and care for him.

Services for Donald will begin with visitation at 10 a.m. on August 3rd, 2022 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Ledford Cemetery on Bakers Creek in Burnsville.
