Charles Porter Ledford

Charles Porter Ledford, age 97 of Burnsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Burnsville, NC. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Arthur and Minerva Hensley Ledford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Robema Penland Ledford; and his sisters, Mallie Holcombe, Molly Ledford, and Pauline Ledford.

Charles was a strong Christian man. He was a member of Paint Gap Presbyterian Church. He was a carpenter by trade, a farmer, and a military man. He served in the Army as Airman in the 8th Air Force. He loved growing his food and providing for his family. More than anything, he loved being a father. He loved spending time with his family. He was loved by all and will be truly missed.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his sons, Randy and Larry Ledford; daughter, Brenda (Darren) Honeycutt; half-brother, Stokey Ledford; half-sisters, Eloise, Vergie, Sadie, Lorraine, and Effe Mae; a grandchild, Cody (Cecile) Honeycutt; and a great-grandchild, Nathan Honeycutt.

Private family services will be held on November 5, 2023.
