Carl Pearmont Fox

Carl Pearmont Fox, age 94 of Burnsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late William Jennings and Geneva Davis Fox.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Floyd Fox, Paul Fox, and Sylvester Fox; sisters: Evalean Black, Ethel Evans, Florence McCurry, and Ruth Wilson.

Carl was a member of Jacks Creek Baptist Church and was always a perfect example to his family of what a true Christian is. He was employed by Glen Raven Mills for 44 years where he retired. From an early age, he developed a strong work ethic that would carry him through his entire life. Having only completed third grade, Carl had a wealth of knowledge and could complete any task set before him. He enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. He always made sure his yard was groomed to perfection, and his passion for gardening was sure to be shared with his family and friends. He made a commitment to care for his loving wife 73 years ago, and it couldn’t have been carried out any sweeter. He loved having his children and grandchildren around every chance he could and looked forward to the warm summer evenings to challenge his croquet buddies. He will be greatly missed by all, but Heaven is surely sweeter.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ruby Silvers Fox; sons: Harley Fox (Peggy) and Stephen Fox; daughters: Sue Silvers (Gary), Brenda Wilson (Wendell), Michelle Upton (Jim); brother, Eddison Fox; sisters: Mattie Berry, Annette Bailey, and Grace Dillinger; grandchildren: Greg Fox (Teresa), Wendy Gortney (Jonathan), Jason Silvers, Kelly Jo Ray (Garrett),  Jennings Wilson (Casey), Kevin Wilson (Haley), Summer Mitchell (Adam), Darby Robinson (Levi), Kelby Upton, Dawson Fox (Julianna), Riley Fox, Enoch Fox and Lydia Fox; great-grandchildren: Sarah Crouse (Sam), Nic Fox, Eli Gortney, Jaxon Gortney, Lexi Silvers, Hayden Wilson, Sawyer Wilson, Asher Wilson, Tilman Mitchell, August Mitchell, Ruby Robinson and Lottie Robinson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home in Burnsville, NC. The family will receive friends and loved ones one hour prior to the service for visitation. Interment will follow the service in the Jacks Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Blair Harvey will be officiating. The pallbearers will be as follows: Jason Silvers, Jennings Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Greg Fox, Riley Fox, Dawson Fox, and Kelby Upton.
