Brown Hughes Obituary
Mr. Brown Hughes, age 87, of Burnsville, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home.
He was a native of Yancey County. Mr. Hughes was the son of the late Jeff and Nora Gardner Hughes. He was also preceded in death by brothers, June Claude (Todd), Lynn, and Bill; sisters, Maude Chrisawn, Geneva Geouge, Heady Fox, Carolyn Ray; and grandson, David Brandon Ray.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gladys Boone Hughes; daughter, Rita Ray and husband, David (Mickey), of Burnsville; sister, Bett Jean Perkins, of Hickory; grandchildren, Chad Ray, of Portland, OR and Robey Ray, of Burnsville; great-grandchildren, Caleb Ray and Joy Ray, of Portland, OR; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:30 on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Double Island Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chad Wise officiating.
