Billie Jean Ayers Tomberlin, age 89, passed away at her home in Burnsville on July 2, 2020. She was born March 16th, 1931 to the late Annice Greene Shepard and Willard Lee Ayers. Billie was a member of the Micaville Presbyterian Church for over 60 years where she served as an Elder and Sunday School teacher.
One of her great joys was cooking and sharing meals with friends and family. She enjoyed her home and flower gardens. Billie was a dedicated volunteer and spent a number of years volunteering at the Burnsville Chamber of Commerce where she was chosen as volunteer of the year. She married Ralph Roy Tomberlin on July 10th, 1947 who preceded her in death in 1996. They have one daughter, Gwen Minton and husband Tommy of Millers Creek and one grandson, Drew.
Billie was one of 8 siblings: June Anglin of Burnsville, Boyd Ayers of Fletcher and Peggy Buckner of Johnson City; four deceased: JC Ayers, Nadine Taub, Deloyce Ledford and Bobby Ayers.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 5, 2020 at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastors Beth and John Hall to officiate.
