Bill Riddle Obituary

William Oliver “Bill” Riddle, age 95 of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 29th, 2020 after his work here on Earth was done. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late John Ransom and Samantha Penland Riddle. He is preceded in death by wife, Faye Robinson Riddle who died in 2003; 3 sisters: Alma Riddle, Lora Lee Thacker and Sue Brooks; and 3 brothers: Claude Riddle, Plato Riddle and Arnold Riddle.

Bill was a World War II Army veteran. He owned and operated restaurants and drove a milk truck for 28 years. He worked daily until he was 93 years old. He was a devoted member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church, having served as a deacon for over 50 years.

Surviving are his loving wife, Georgia Rathbone Riddle; children: Morris Dean Riddle and wife Cindy of Gastonia, NC, Willie Riddle of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Phillip Dean Riddle and wife Christine, Phyllis Silvers and husband Larry, Johnny Riddle and wife Janet, all of Burnsville; a sister, Virginia “Jo” Waycaster of Mills River, NC; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and extended family members; Doug and Gary Bryant and Velma Thacker.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 2nd in the Robinson Cemetery at Pleasant Gap Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Reverend Joe Miller and Adam Miller will officiate. The family wishes for memorial donations to be made to Compassionate Care Western North Carolina, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
