Betty Virginia (Hughes) Hylemon

Betty Virginia Hylemon, age 96 of Burnsville, went Home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2023. She was born on February 20, 1927, to the late Percey and Nettie Briggs Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Hoyle Hylemon; brothers: Robert Hughes, Jason Hughes, and Verlyn Hughes; sisters: Ellen Bradley, Nan Gardner, and Maude Dulaney.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Pat (David) Peterson; grandchildren: David Ivan (Alica) Peterson, and Jonathan (Teresa) Peterson; great-grandchildren: Ben (Lyndsay) Peterson, Trae (Macie) Peterson, Brooke (Jordan) Cooper, and Bridgett Peterson; great-great-grandchildren: Aubrey Cooper, Owen Cooper, Will Peterson, and Iva Lynn Peterson; as well as sisters-in-law: Earleen Hughes, Dottie Hylemon, Edith Hylemon, and Mary Lea Hardin.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC. The family will receive friends and loved ones an hour prior to the service for visitation. Reverend’s Merritt Taylor and Dick Westbrook will be officiating. Burial will follow the service in the West Burnsville Baptist Church Cemetery.
