Bernice (Tolley) Murphy

Bernice Tolley Murphy, age 88 of Green Mountain, passed away Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Malley and Etta Garland Tolley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Murphy.

Bernice loved cooking, canning, sewing, quilting, flowers and tending to her garden.

She is survived by her sons: Gerald Murphy, David Murphy, and George Murphy (Mary Lou); daughters: Charlotte Bryant (Kenneth) and Joyce Barnett (Steven); eleven grandchildren and nineteen great – grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends and loved ones in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home on Thursday, July 8th from 6 – 8 p.m. Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 9th in the Hughes Cemetery on Green Mountain at 1 p.m. Reverend Kenneth Forbes will officiate.
