Ann (Hart) Savage

Wilma “Ann” Hart Savage, age 90, of Green Mountain, NC, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. She was born May 23, 1933, in Atlanta, GA to the late William Glenn Hart and Clytie Chandler Hart. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Clara Jane McWhorter, Jeannine Hart and Mary Jo Hart.

Ann graduated from Roosevelt High School in Atlanta in 1951 and then went on to Mercer College before transferring to Baylor University in Waco, TX, graduating in 1955 with a degree in History. It was there that she met her husband, Walter, in Philosophy class. They were married on September 3, 1955.

As a military spouse Ann lived all over the world but made Green Mountain her home for the last 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening and walking in the NC mountains, but what she loved most was spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 68 years, Col. (Ret. USAF) Walter Everett Savage; sons Walter Savage Jr. (Kelly), Mark Savage (Lisbeth), and daughter Karen Nelson (Steve); grandchildren Kara Haley, Neil Savage, Holly Savage, Rachel Savage, Ben Savage, Aaron Savage, Luke Savage, Rebecca Nelson and Emily Nelson; and great-grandchildren Conrad Haley, Elijah Savage, Sloane Savage and Ava Savage.
