Viola (Edwards) Whitson

Viola Edwards Whitson, 92, of Green Mountain, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was a daughter of the late McKinley and Laura Jones Edwards.  She was the wife of Oscar Whitson who passed away in 2002.  Viola was also preceded in death by a grandson:  Joshua Lee Whitson; 3 sisters; and, 5 brothers.  She was a member of Beans Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are 2 daughters:  Wanda Renfro and husband, Charles, of Green Mountain, and Patsy Johnson of Jacks Creek; 3 sons:  Ralph Whitson and wife, Polly, and Ronnie Whitson and wife, Fredia, both of Green Mountain, and Royce Whitson and wife Debbie, of Marion; 9 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren:  sister:  Sidney Ayers of Green Mountain; and, a brother:  Kenneth Edwards of Morganton.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30PM Thursday, October 17, 2019, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Revs. Ronnie Whitson and C. J. Robinson will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Friday in the Oscar Whitson Family Cemetery at Green Mountain.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
