Thula Jones Sparks, 99, of Micaville, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late James and Manassa Boone Jones, and the wife of Gay C. Sparks who died in 2011. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Jolean Sparks; sisters: Martha McMahan, Maggie Harding, Julie Hall, Ina Suddreth, Edna Jones and Viola Robinson; and brothers: Sam and Horace Jones. Thula was a member of Pleasant Gap Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son: Kenny Sparks and wife, Judy, of Burnsville; 2 grandsons: Stephen Sparks and Scott Sparks and wife, Brandi, and a great grandson: Caleb, all of Burnsville; and a special niece: Jerelean Wilson of Spruce Pine, who was a faithful visitor and helper, as well as many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Niles Howell will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Wednesday in Fred Young Cemetery at Pleasant Gap.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
