Thomas Gene Fender

Thomas Gene Fender, 79, of Fairview, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus.   A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Rufus and Dessie Ball Fender.   Thomas was a farmer and co-owner of Stafford & Fender Motor Company of Black Mountain.

Survivng are his wife:  Elaine Stafford Fender; two daughters:  Katrina Fender Buckner (Greg) and Lindy Fender Yelton of Fairview; grandchildren:  Greg Buckner, Jr (Christina), Erich Buckner, Colby Scroggs (Lashay), Sydney Yelton (Logan), Sarah Buckner and Taylor Buckner; great grandchildren:  Hannah-Grace and Wyatt Buckner and Lainey Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  The Revs. Burl Ledford and Ronnie Anglin will officiate.   Burial will be in the Zack Fender Cemetery at Bald Mountain.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
