Shelby A. Hensley, 71, of Edisto Island, SC, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Hoyt and Eva McPeters Hensley, was raised by Willie and Eura McPeters Anglin; and the husband of Evelyn Hudgins Hensley who died in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother: Grace Ledford Hensley; a sister: Betty Lou Ledford; and, brothers: Curl, Guy and Dale Hensley and Arnold, Francis and Bobby Anglin.
Surviving are his daughters: Eva Foxx (David) and Lynn Silvers of Burnsville, Beth Winberry (Jay) of Asheville and Grace Silvers (Ted) of Marion; sons: James Hensley and Rick Hill of Burnsville, Jimmy Silvers of Marion and David Silvers (Pam) of Bakersville; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters: Gail McDowell (Steve), Doris McMahan (Vance) and Mary Wilson (Frank), all of Burnsville; brothers: Howard Hensley (Faye) of Burnsville and Jimmy Anglin (Charlene) of Buncombe County; stepbrother: Gene Ledford (Brenda) of Burnsville. Many nieces, nephews and special friends: James Robinson and Queeny Wright of Edisto Island, SC, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Ronnie Anglin and Jay Winberry will officiate. Burial will be in Hensley Cemetery on prices Creek.
The family will receive friends from 12Noon until 2PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
