Phillip Donald Deyton, 62, of Green Mountain, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 18, 2019, at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of Caroline Justice Deyton of Burnsville and the late Lloyd Deyton. Phillip was a lifelong member of Covy Rock Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher. His former professions included teaching school, coaching and a quality analyst at OMC.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 38 years: Jeannette Cook Deyton; son: Bryan Phillip Deyton; daughter: Caitlin Faith Deyton, both of Green Mountain; sisters: Lisa McCourry and husband, Ricky, of Green Mountain, and Angie Vance and husband, Linc of Burnsville; nephews and nieces: Anthony and Brandon McCourry, Lexi and Aidan Vance and Kayla and Kristen Aliff; and, 13 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7PM Wednesday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Marvin Hensley and Russell Hughes will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11AM Thursday in the Cecil Deyton Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7PM Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral Home.
