Norma Fay Edwards Cole, 71, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 3, 2019, at her home after a long illness. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Hoy and Madge Watts Edwards, and the wife of Troy Cole who died in 2010. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Brenda Sue Edwards; and a granddaughter: Amber Brooke Cole. Norma worked at Glen Raven Mills for 22 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and friend who will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her loving children: Scotty (Shelly) Cole of Mars Hill and Daniel (Melissa) Cole and Merinda (Kevin) Bean, all of Burnsville; Johnny (Gail) Cole, Tim (Fay) Cole, Brenda (Doug) Young, and Donna Anderson; grandchildren: Dalton (Michaela) Cole, Dusty Cole, Danielle (Colton) Landress, Gage Cole, Justin Edwards, Keylee Edwards, Grace Edwards, and Amryn and Corban Bean; 3 great grandchildren: Carson Cole and Kylie and Mia Elkins; a host of step grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings: Gary Edwards, J. B. and Jenny Edwards and Barbara (Gene) Absher; and a host of nieces and nephews. As her journey home began and ended she was grateful for the compassion and love shown to her by her now adopted children: Sierra Bennett, Elizabeth Honeycutt, Megan Vestall and Megan Chandler, and her adopted sister: Naomi McDowell.
Funeral services will be held at 7PM Monday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Scotty Cole and Larry Green will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Tuesday in the Landmark Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
