Lois McKinney, 82, of Green Mountain, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 30, 2019, at her home. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Eckard and Nettie Hensley Murphy, and the wife of James McKinney who passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy Webb; and, two brothers: Jack and Rev. Frank Murphy. Lois was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and loved gardening, flowers and quilting.
Surviving are a daughter: Wanda Honeycutt and husband, Eddie, of Green Mountain; sons: Pete McKinney and wife, Gayle, of Green Mountain and Tim McKinney and wife, Regina of Burnsville; sister: Ruth Silvers and husband, Ronnie, of Burnsville; brother: Rev. Tommy Murphy and wife, Jean, of Green Mountain; grandchildren: Heather McClure and fiancé, Sheldon, Adam Honeycutt, B. J. Webb and wife, Amanda, and, Brinton McKinney and wife, Ayla; and, great grandchildren: Ashlynn, Kaitlynn, Natalie, Tanner, William and Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM Sunday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Revs. Blaine Whitson and Tommy Hensley will officiate. Private burial will be in the James McKinney Family Cemetery.
