Katherine (Fox) Higgins

Katherine Fox Higgins, 87, formerly of Yancey County, passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Fletcher, where she had made her home for the past 5 years.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Hick and Vera Hensley Fox and the wife of Keith Higgins who passed away in 2013.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter; Kathy Higgins, sisters: Dorothy Arrowood, and Clarene Boyd and a brother: Clarence Fox.  Katherine loved flowers, and at her request, a long stem rose with a name tag attached as opposed to funeral arrangements is requested by the family.

Surviving are three daughters: Kay Silvers of Marion, Rita Higgins of Burnsville and Diana Waterman of Fletcher; a son: Bill Higgins of Burnsville; a sister: Norma Jean Shankles of Eugene, OR, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Monday, December 23, 2019 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Rev. Stacy Elkins will officiate.  Burial will be in the Keith Higgins Family Cemetery on Langford Branch Road. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
