James Michael Maguire

Jim Maguire, 84, of Wilmington and Burnsville, passed away peacefully at his summer home on Monday, August 5, 2019.  A native of New York, he was a son of the late Adam and Alice Linkey Maguire.  He was also preceded in death by a brother:  Robbie.  Jim was a retired teacher and piano technician.  He suffered a stroke in 2011, and it broke his body, but never his spirit.  Jim and his wife, Ann, had enjoyed their summer home in Burnsville for the past 8 years.

Surviving are his wife:  Ann Angel Maguire; a brother:  David Maguire; 3 sons:  Bruce, William, and Kenneth Maguire, all of New York; a step-daughter:  Ashley Lytle and husband, Nick, of Wilmington; 6 grandchildren; and a former daughter-in-law:  Denise Maguire of New York.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30PM Friday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Niles Howell will officiate.  A graveside service will be held at 11AM Saturday in the Daniels Cemetery in Newland.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
