Donna Marie Thomas

Donna Thomas, 48, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019, at her home.  Formerly of Harrisburg, NC, she had been a resident of Yancey County for the past 25 years.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Dewey and Pearl Thomas of Green Mountain and Russell and Vatha Hager of Denver, NC and  a nephew: Jordan Thomas of Harrisburg. Donna was devoted to helping others in need.  She was a volunteer firefighter for 17 years.  Donna was a loving daughter, sister and mother, and her sons were her pride and joy.  She was a member of West Burnsville Baptist Church, a free spirit and loved life to the fullest. 

Surviving are her sons:  Brian Thomas Rocha and wife, Karey, and Austen Rocha and fiancée, Alyssia Banks, all of Burnsville; parents:  Marvin and Jane Thomas of Double Island; sisters:  Marva Thomas of China Grove and Deborah Thomas of Harrisburg; nephew:  Joshua Thomas of Harrisburg; and, the love of her life:  Randy Silver of Pensacola.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM Sunday, October 20, 2019  in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home.  Pastor Terry Long will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials  be made to Lewis Rathbun House, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, NC 28803, or to one’s favorite charity.
