Charlotte Margaret (Young) Barnett

Charlotte Young Barnett, 92…… the sun rose October 26, 1926 and set May 5, 2019.  She was a resident of the Lincoln Park community of Burnsville.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Juanita Young.  Charlotte was preceded in death by a son:  Coy Barnett; grandson:  Brandon;  brothers:  Hubert, Donald,  L. D. and Harold Young; and, sisters:  Mary Parker and Gaynell Griffith.  Charlotte was a member of the Eastern Star.  She had worked as a nurse practitioner in New York, later at Baxter Healthcare, and assisted numerous families in Burnsville.

Surviving are her children:  Shirley Whiteside and Derwin Barnett and wife, Janice, of Burnsville; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister:  Gwendolyn Young Shade Griffith of Burnsville; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Thursday in Griffith Chapel Church, of which she was a lifetime member.  Her grandson, Rev. Bill Whiteside, will officiate, Rev. William Ray and her granddaughter, Ashley Barnett.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
