Charles “Pete” Hensley, 74, of Burnsville, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Frank and Vivian McIntosh Hensley. He was also preceded in death by his step mother: Ollie Lovin Hensley; brothers: Billy Fred, Gordon, Clarence Dean and Randy Hensley. Pete was an avid follower and supporter of local high school athletics, a fan of NASCAR, the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Braves.
Surviving are brothers: Robert Hensley and wife, Kumcha, of Tucson, AZ, Roy Lee Hensley of Mars Hill and Edwin Hensley and wife, Dianne, of Weaverville; a sister: Diane Hensley (Bruce) of Burnsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. John W. Fowler will officiate. Burial will follow in Marietta Atkins Cemetery on Green Mountain Drive.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
