Charles Edwin Rivers

Charles Edwin Rivers, 71, died December 6, 2019 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.  His funeral service will be held this Wednesday in the Chapel at Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. in Burnsville, North Carolina.  

Mr. Rivers was born on August 25, 1948 in Seneca, South Carolina to Melinda Grace and James Donald Rivers.  Ed earned a bachelor’s degree from  Clemson University in 1971 and had a successful career as a civil engineer working for the Georgia Department of Transportation for 28 years. He married Faye Letterman on June 29, 1980 in Burnsville, North Carolina.   Mr. Rivers was a passionate golfer, avid outdoorsman and adventurous world traveler. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  The memorial service will be officiated by Reverend Dr. Jim Fowler of the Higgins Memorial United Methodist Church and Reverend Dwight Boone from Faith  Baptist Church.

Mr. Rivers is survived by his loving wife:  Faye Letterman; brothers:  James Rivers Jr. and wife, Martha; David Rivers; and two nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association to help fund innovative research, advocacy, and patient support until no more loved ones are lost to heart disease.
